It is a bronze work by Enrico Baj referring to a pièce by Alfred Jarry, the founder of Pataphysics, a satiric comedy, originally conceived as a puppet show, aiming to strike the stupidity and violence of social conventions.
Baj's message is easy: Ubu, an imaginary character, is a big game for everyone. His presence adds a touch of sympathy to the city "most comfortable drawing-room", with all his colourful stones, multi-colour bronze flowers, mechanic pieces reminding of a nose, a mouth and two eyes. From above his place he greets everyone, both tourists and residents: he is there to give his welcome greetings and, why not?, to wink to everybody's imagination.
Signed by one of the greatest artists of our times, the monument is located in Largo Pietro Micca, along Moretti Avenue.
