Fishing

During the centuries S.Benedetto del Tronto has become one of the most outstanding fishing and tourist ports at national level. With the launch of a motor boat for fish transportation in 1912 a new process of transformation of boat propulsion, from sailing to oceanic motor-trawling, has begun.

Besides these events, some further up-to-dating and development initiatives have occurred involving other departments strictly linked to the activities associated with fishing, such as dockyards, hemp manufacturing, rope and net production, motor boat industries, on board instrumentation, fish marketing and selling, frost and transportation chain creation.
All these productive activities have given a strong characterization to the centres of this part of the riviera which, however, have not neglected their first tourist vocation. Both the Harbour and the Fish Market were built within the first ten years of our century. Since those years places available to carry out the activities related to fishing have increased and the experiences acquired in various fields have improved, so that a high level of integration among the activities related to fishing has been achieved in this area.
