Salvatore Mangione (Salvo)
is one of the artists who accepted the challenge proposed by the
municipal administration to transform the "City
living-room" into a veritable open-air art gallery that would be a
meeting point at the same time.
He fully understood this challenge and made the elephant in gilded bronze: a cheerful work, perfectly integrated into the new avenue context, which quickly turned into a "living and experienced" monument.
In
a very short time, in fact, the surreal presence of "L'elefantino
tra le palme"(The elephant among the palm trees) by Salvo has
become a regular component in the urban landscape, a point of
reference for everyone: for children who can't resist to climb up
and touch the trunk, but for adults too.
Now in town, to quickly
get a date with someone, you just say: "See you beside the
little elephant".
