In the heart of "Old City" Piacentini Palace was once home of our dear and beloved dialect poet Bice Piacentini. Today the Palace houses the Historical City and the Gallery of the Sea, opened in 2008 and 2009.
Spread over three floors, it was built in an harmonic and modern style. The first floor still has some fascinating details and frescoes dating from the early nineteenth century.
It is currently owned by the Municipality of San Benedetto del Tronto and houses the Municipal Archives (with the entire documentary material produced by the municipality from 1700 to 1970 but in 1570 a document called the "Statute of Fermo, a collection of regulations and laws belonging to the Papal States Department ).
Since spring of 2009 it has been the seat of the Art Gallery of the Sea where you can see the rich artistic production which was part of the civic collection of civic inspired to the theme of the sea, the source of livelihood for generations in San Benedettot.
The widest part and most valuable section of the Art Gallery is certainly the one dedicated to the production of paintings, photographs and drawings by he Swiss artist Alfred Châtelain, followed in importance by Adolfo De Carolis', author of national prestige.
